I first saw Mungo about 7 years ago when he came through my yard to be sold. I really liked what I saw, but he was sold to an older lady whose plan was to campaign him lightly in competitions and then sell him on again. Unfortunately for her, Mungo was a bit sharp and spooky and a year later when I had a sponsor who wanted me to find him a horse for me to train, I thought immediately of Mungo. I believe the lady was quite relieved to sell Mungo to us. Mungo proved to be very successful straight away, but when the sponsor went bankrupt it looked like I would lose him. Luckily for me, my father in law, Malcolm Sleet, stepped in and purchased him, which was terrific !
Mungo has a very kind nature, is a real gentleman and tries very hard to please. He is sensitive and can sometimes get quite offended if I put him under a little too much pressure.
Mungo has achieved some good results and we are striving to improve to reach his full potential. I have high hopes for him for the future, with the Bejing 2008 Olympics being a real possibility.
