Sadly on June 12, Penny collapsed and had to be put to sleep whilst at stud. We are all incredibly sad at the loss of Penny; she meant such a lot to Marie and her family. Thankfully, we have two 2 year olds, Halo & Star, out of Penny via embryo transfer, who will hopefully carry on their mother’s special character.

Penny has been a very special part of Marie’s team. She was bought by Marie as a 5 year old and together they have gone through the grades from Pre Novice to 4* level.

She may only be a small mare, but she is incredibly tough, sound and gutsy and has great scope over fences.

She is still the only mare to date that has won the Best British Mare Award at Badminton for two consecutive years.

Penny is listed as the 4th most successful event mare of all time.

Penny was used for Embryo Transfer in 2006 and her two fillies are now yearlings! Marie is hoping to use Penny for Embryo Transfer again next year.
