’Thomas’ was originally bought for Tim as a genteel hack, but apparently was much too spooky and was consequently sent away for some dressage schooling ! The trainer suggested that maybe Thomas should try some eventing. He had been eventing for approximately a year or so when I met the Poples, but his success was a bit limited and Tim and Anne were scratching their heads. I think as a last chance, they asked if I would have a go. Now Thomas has an amazing jump, but he certainly lived up to his reputation of being a spooky ********* ! Thomas doesn’t look like a classic eventer, he’s not bred to be an eventer, he is a terrible brat, but I actually think he has the ability to be a real champion. His nickname is the ’Flying Cob’ !
